Vinca major and vinca are both perennial evergreen vines that share the same name with the annual flower. Both low ground covers are almost care free but very invasive when established in a few years. This low ground cover doe's not climb but creeps close to the ground. Vinca has scattering blue flowers in spring and mostly is grown for care free foliage.
Vincas can be purchased on line. They are very easy to grow and spread since root stubs develop every few inches along stems and growth is rapid once it gets started.

Vincas will grow in sun or shade and soil don't matter. They only need water during dry times. Major with its larger stems and leaves is more invasive. Vinca minor has smaller leaves and stems, darker leaves and grows more compact and less invasive. As a vine, vinca is sometimes grown in pots and hanging pots, but its main use is as a low ground cover.
Moneywort low ground cover stays next to the ground rooting itself every few inches, moneywort don't climb or even grow upwards, and is less invasive than ivy and easier to keep in bounds. Moneywort has short roots easy to pull out of unwanted areas. Leaves are round and yellow green and has yellow flowers in early summer.
Virginia creeper is an aggressive growing ground cover that looks similar to poison ivy, but has five leaflets not three. The vine grows rapidly up structures or trees once established. Virginia creeper will invade grass especially where partial shade is.
Honey suckle is a familiar vine that grows along and throw fences. Honeysuckle has white to pale yellow flowers, that have a sweet scent to attract bees, butterflies, and humming birds. There are cultivated varieties that come with red blooms and other colors. The blooms last throw most of the summer. Honey suckle don't care what soil type if is planted in.
